Cavalier Dr. G. K. Devarajulu – Founder Chairman & Managing Trustee
Govindaswamy Kuppuswamy DEVARAJULU (GKD), industrialist born on October 26th, 1911, at Pappanaickenpalayam, Coimbatore, was the eldest son of late Sri.G.Kuppuswamy Naidu.
He was the Chairman of Lakshmi Machine Works Limited, Lakshmi Textile Exporters Limited, Lakshmi Ring Travellers (Cbe) Limited and many other companies in the group. He was a Member of the Society of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi
He was honoured by the Government of Italy with the Knight (Cavalier) of the Order ‘Stella Della Solidareita Italiana’ during December 1974.

Cavalier Dr Devarajulu was deeply devoted to Social Service activities. The Coimbatore Rotary Club has rightly and promptly honored him with the conferment of ‘For the Sake of Honour Award’, the highest recognition that a Rotary Club can give to any individual in recognition of the meritorious outstanding services to community.
He was also honoured with the conferment of ‘Community Service Award’ in 1978 by the Lions Club of Ramnagar, Coimbatore, ‘Founding Father of Textile Machinery Industry’ at the India-ITME’1980 exhibition at Bombay, ‘Outstanding Industrialist NIQA 1980 Award’ at Madras by National Institution of Quality Assurance, Madras..
He was awarded “Doctorate” by the World University of Round Tables, Arizona, USA for ‘Human Resources Management’. Cavalier Dr.Devarajulu was honoured with Doctorate by Bharathiar University, Coimbatore at its first convocation on 03.04.1984.
Cavalier Dr.Devarajulu was an active Freemason and was the Regional Grand Master of the Regional Grand Lodge of Southern India. He was the Founder and Chairman of the Coimbatore Masonic Charity Trust which runs Masonic Medical Centre for Children and GKD Masonic Working Women’s Hostel.
