Autism Awareness Day – 02.04.2023

Coimbatore District Collector Sri. Kranthi Kumar Pati inaugurated the Autism Awareness Walkathon at Masonic Medical Centre for Children, Race Course, which was organised on 2.4.2023 by Third Eye – center for Autism and Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) – Coimbatore chapter. 

More than 300 people  including Doctors, Children, Parents of autistic children took part in ‘Go Blue’, a Walkathon highlighting the theme for this year’s World Autism Awareness Day – “ Transformation: Toward a Neuro- Inclusive World for All”. IAP president Dr.C.Srinivasan said that the idea of the event was to create awareness about the public and parents to change the perspective and to seek early intervention for the betterment of these children.  

Mrs.Saranya Rengaraj, Director of Third Eye- centre for Autism said there is a huge social stigma among parents of autistic children which is stopping them from receiving the right support at the right time. Early diagnosis and intervention, specialized educational programmes and therapies will significantly improve the outcomes for Autism children.
